Leura Rose is an exclusive, self-contained Blue Mountains retreat with all the modern luxuries, writes Craig Donaldson

Leura Rose was built in 1914 as a mountain retreat for a wealthy Sydney merchant.

Now, more than a century later, it has been converted into a luxurious mountain getaway, which features an indulgent spa bathroom (with its own gas log fireplace), fully equipped country-style kitchen and quiet, leafy gardens.

A 10-minute stroll to Leura village, Leura Rose is located high on the street and has district views from the front verandah.

The fully self-contained property can accommodate up to three couples, and each of the three bedrooms features four-poster queen-sized beds.

The property has been meticulously restored and features crafted timber joinery and classic period furnishings.

There are two nicely appointed bathrooms, a plush, comfy loungeroom with gas log fire and large flat-screen television, as well as central heating and air conditioning and complimentary wireless internet.

“Special requests, such as an in-house chef or masseuse, roses or champagne are also catered to”

The main spa bathroom at Leura Rose is a highlight of the property and features under-floor heating, an extra-wide shower, a double spa bath overlooking the leafy garden and a warm gas log fireplace.

Recessed speakers can play guests’ choice of music, while the second bathroom also features a shower with double corner spa bath and full bathroom facilities including quality complimentary toiletries.

The kitchen is also something special and features mahogany joinery, marble benchtops and quality appliances.

The large farmhouse-style table provides ample space for dining, while the sunny north-facing patio adjoining the kitchen is ideal for al-fresco meals.

A barbecue is also available for guests who wish to cook outside. Eggs, bacon, milk, juice, bread, cereals, various condiments and spreads, an assortment of teas and coffees, drinking chocolate and marshmallows are also stocked in the kitchen.

On arrival, guests are treated to complimentary port, chocolates and flowers, and fluffy bathrobes, slippers, linen and fresh flowers are also provided.

Guests at Leura Rose are hosted by Lorraine Allanson, who is more than accommodating in politely and pleasantly attending to guests’ requirements.

Special requests, such as an in-house chef or masseuse, roses or champagne are also catered to, making Leura Rose the ideal Blue Mountains getaway for busy professionals in need of a quiet break.
